LITTER

Litter is one of the biggest problems that Parnitha National Park faces. Accumulated at the recreation grounds and not regularly collected by the proper service of the Municipality of Acharnes, they are distributed all over the mountain by foxes and dogs, or dispersed by the wind.

The establishment of the Organization for the Management of Parnitha National Park brings hope that this problem will be solved. A relative contract has already been signed between the Organization and the Municipality of Acharnes, in order to collect and dispose the litter from Parnitha. Nevertheless, in order to actively resolve this phenomenon, we appeal to the citizens and employees that come to Parnitha, to be extremely cautious with their garbage and to throw them inside the litter-bins that have been placed in all the recreation grounds. After visiting a mountain we must only leave our trails behind. We all have a duty to protect the mountain’s beauty.
